Speaking after signing a memorandum of understating (MoU) on Wednesday, Icam chief executive officer Francis Chinjoka Gondwe described the programme as beneficial to both Icam and the students

He said: “Within our strategic plan, we want to diversify to bring in more programmes within Icam. This programme thus serves as our diversification plan.

“On the other hand, the programme is also beneficial to the prospective students as it stands to provide quality training and skills.”

On his part MIM acting executive director Samson Sikelo Phiri said the programme offers a rare opportunity for non-finance managers to sharpen their skills in making decisions.

He said the programme, expected to start by the end of this month, aims to equip students with skills for sound interpretation and understanding of financial statements.

The course will run for six months on block release at MIM’s centres in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu.

The course will, among others, cover modules such as introduction to financial management, budgeting process, implementation and reviews, working capital management, cost behaviour analysis, bank reconciliation and ethical conduct, behaviour and professionalism in finance.
